Edinburgh has one of the most beautiful cityscapes in the world, making it the ideal city break destination. Enjoy a perfect day out at one of Edinburgh's many events throughout the year. If it's worth celebrating, you can be sure there's a festival in Edinburgh dedicated to it! From ceilidhs and science to ghost, film and food festivals there's always something going on in the festival city, and that's just for starters.

Discover world-class museums and galleries, take a tour on an open-top bus or even visit the city's own zoo. From the world famous Festivals to top-class restaurants and bars, not to mention fabulous shopping, you'll be spoilt for choice.

Shopping in Edinburgh is a fantastic experience as you can browse the stores of several great spots including Princes Street, George Street and the St James Centre while admiring fine architecture and striking views of the castle.

Day 1

We leave Cumbria in the morning and head north to Moffat and then on via Biggar to Edinburgh, arriving around lunchtime, afternoon at leisure for shopping before checking into our hotel, the Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge. Spend the evening exploring Scotland’s capital city’s nightlife.

Day 2

Full English breakfast is served in the hotel, then you can spend the day at leisure, visit the Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood House, or shop on Princes street. We leave Edinburgh late afternoon for the journey home to Cumbria.

Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge provides centrally located accommodation in the Old Town. The hotel has a bar and restaurant, and offers free WiFi.

Furnished with Ibis Sweet Beds, each air-conditioned room has a flat-screen TV, desk, safe, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. All have en-suite bathrooms with shower and complementary toiletries.

The restaurant serves international cuisine from lunchtime until late evening, and is complemented by a relaxing bar which also serves snacks.

Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge is around 9 minutes’ walk from Edinburgh Castle, and Holyrood Park is around 15 minutes away. The Festival Theatre, Grassmarket and the Museum of Edinburgh are among the attractions within a 10-minute walk and the shops in Princes Street are a short walk away.

Old Town is a great choice for visitors interested in Old Town exploring, history and architecture.
