The magnificent Dolomites including Italy's most popular lake

Fai Della Paganella - a natural terrace on the slopes of Mount Paganella overlooks the Valle dell’Adige. It has fascinating beauty spots and a particularly mild, fresh climate.

Merano is a town in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Generally best known for its spa resorts, it is located within a basin, surrounded by mountains standing up to 3,335 metres (10,942 feet) above sea level, at the entrance to the Passeier Valley and the Vinschgau. In the past the town has been a popular place of residence for several scientists, literary people, and artists, including Franz Kafka, Ezra Pound and Paul Lazarsfeld, who appreciated its mild climate. The area is well known for its wines, both white and red, and vineyards extend right into the town. The local wine is a light red wine, best drunk young. There are also extensive orchards, and apples are exported throughout Europe.

Madonna Di Campiglio - stylish and supremely Italian, yet with quiet charm, this resort offers lashings of la dolce vita - at a price.

Tucked into a secluded nook in Val Rendena, with slopes tumbling down into town from both sides of the valley, Campiglio's pedestrianised village has an intimate atmosphere. Exclusive, but understated rather than ostentatious, it's popular with wealthy Italian families, fairly well known outside Italy and a proper party town.

Riva Del Garda - this pretty town is a busy resort that demonstrates its historic past with a 12th Century fortress flanked by moats and town walls dating from Roman times. Due to its position at the northernmost point of the lake and the subsequently reliable winds, Riva is a leading watersports resort and is one of the venues on the windsurfing World Cup circuit. It has become the most popular holiday venue on Lake Garda, however, the town still retains much of its old world charm, with plenty of bars and traditional pavement cafés for relaxation.
