Aachen

Aachen's festively illuminated Christmas market is arranged around the cathedral - Germany's first UNESCO World Heritage site - and the historical town hall. Over 100 stalls in this lovingly decorated "Christmas town" on the market square offer everything your heart could desire. If you only sample one treat here, make sure it's the Printen, the city's famous gingerbread. Look forward to a wide range of festive entertainment including music ensembles at the weekend.

Weisbaden

Wiesbaden’s Christmas market annually takes place on the Schlossplatz between the Rathaus and Stadtschloss, as well as around the Marktkirche, from 26 November until 23 December 2019. The atmospheric setting for the Market is the picturesque Schlossplatz in the heart of the city. The colours of blue and gold as well as the golden lilies of the city coat of arms form the stylishly decorative elements for the Christmas handicraft market. The Wiesbaden Twinkling Star Christmas Market is one of the special traditional and social attractions that the state capital has to offer.

Rudesheim

Discover Christmas traditions from all over the world at the charming Rüdesheim Christmas Market. More than 120 stands from twelve nations offer their special products in the world-famous 'Drosselgasse' area in the historic city centre. This famous street is covered in sparkling lights and decorations during Christmas time and the festivities are popular with wine enthusiasts as the local wine growers open their cellars to offer winter specialities that will be sure to warm you up on those cold winter days. An absolute must-try treat at the Christmas market is the delicious Rüdesheim Coffee, made exclusively with local Asbach Uralt Brandy, whipped creams and served in an authentic Rüdesheim coffee set.

Be sure to visit Germany's largest nativity scene with its life-sized figures, and enjoy the numerous events, parades and concerts as well as the special festive highlights taking place at weekends.

Frankfurt

Frankfurt has one of the oldest and largest Christmas Markets in Germany that has been running since 1393. It is a traditional winter market full of festivities, with Christmas carols and church bells ringing, and of course the giant Christmas tree, located in the scenic old town centre, decorated with thousands of lights, ribbons and bells. The market attracts more than 3-million visitors per year with more than 200 stalls to keep them busy. Many of the stalls sell classic wooden toys, rocking horses, dolls and decorations; others focus on delicious Christmas specialities like mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, grilled sausages and gingerbread, filling the air with wonderful yuletide aromas. Don't miss out on the historical merry-go-round, lit up and decorated with wooden carved horses. It starts at the end of November and carries on through December.

Dusseldorf

At the end of each year (22 November to 30 December 2019) a longer period than ever before – the Christmas Market will be inviting visitors to the city centre with a large variety of Christmas worlds in different looks. During the festive season, Düsseldorf will have lots of atmospheric new features.

Düsseldorf's Christmas Market, one of the most beautiful Christmas markets in Germany, casts a spell on Düsseldorf's city centre and turns it into a unique experience for visitors. The Christmas magic will be individually staged at seven locations simultaneously. In the city centre, artistically designed theme worlds invite visitors on a trip of exploration. Seasonally decorated huts will for four weeks turn the city into a winter's fairy tale for the whole family.
