The Worcester Porcelain Museum houses the world's largest collection of Worcester Porcelain. The ceramic collections, archives and records of factory production, form the primary resource for the study of Worcester porcelain and its history.
Hereford Cathedral - A Cathedral dedicated to the martyred King Ethelbert has stood on the same site since Saxon times and is home to a community which has worshipped and worked together there continuously for well over 1200 years. Todays building contains some of the finest examples of architectural excellence from Norman times up to the present day. The award-winning Mappa Mundi & Chained Library Exhibition is open all year round and is famous for housing both the spectacular medieval map of the world and the cathedral's unique Chained Library. Here the stories of these national treasures are told through models, original artefacts and special exhibitions.
Day 1
A morning departure from Cumbria for the journey south to Bridgnorth, where we have time for lunch, take a ride on the oldest and steepest inland funicular railway that connects the low town and the high town. From Bridgnorth we only have a short drive to Great Malvern and our hotel the Abbey. Dinner in the hotel.
DDay 2
Following breakfast we head to the Hop Pocket Arts & Craft Centre, a centre showcasing local handcrafted goods, before visiting the Weston Cider Mill, here we find out how they make their award-winning brands at the family-owned mill, nestling in the hills of Herefordshire's apple and perry pear orchards we enjoy an informative guided tour, tasting and light lunch. Our day is completed with some free time in Hereford, explore this city on the River Wye, take time to view the cathedral and the adjacent exhibition, based around the Mappa Mundi . We return to Malvern for dinner.
B, DDay 3
We are joined by a local guide today we tour some of the villages in Herefordshire's beautiful 'Black and White' villages trail. Our route takes in delightful cottages, inns, shops in timber framed hamlets including Dilwyn, Weobley, Eardisley, Pembridge and Eardisland. We have free time in Leominster before returning to Malvern and dinner at the hotel.
B, DDay 4
This morning we visit the beautiful city of Worcester, time at leisure, see the Cathedral, Greyfriars Merchant House or perhaps the Commandery, telling the story of the local area. After lunch we have an included boat trip on the River Severn before returning to Malvern mid afternoon and some time at leisure prior to our final meal at the Abbey Hotel.
B, DDay 5
We leave our hosts at the Abbey hotel and travel to Ludlow, a thriving market town renowned as the food and drink capital of Shropshire. Time for lunch before continuing home to Cumbria.
